Colin is one of the leading commercial musicians in the UK with over fifty years of experience at the forefront of the UK music scene both as a player (guitar) and arranger in addition to scoring music for films, television and commercial advertising. Currently busy preparing tuition material for publication Autmn 2012 - watch this page for more information During January and February 2012 Colin toured with conductor Richard Balcombe and the London Concert Orchestra and Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton de Beck and Erin Boag and singer Lance Ellington in the show 'Let's Do It'. Colin was again featured soloist playing Stanley Myers beautiful 'Cavatina' Also worked again with the London Concert Orchs=estra, this time under the baton of Gavin Sutherland, in a series of concerts to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee year which aslo featured Rosemary Squires . Colin also made guest appearances with the CBSO and RCPO at Birmingham Symphony Hall and the London Excel Centre In September 2011 recorded 6 tracks with Howard Dee (son of jazz pianist Brian Dee) at Skyline Studios along with Steve Pearce on bass and Ralph Salmins on drums. In October sees Colin joined some old pals to record tracks at Western Star studios with Vince Eager . Vince has teamed up with Marty Wilde and assembled a 'supergroup' of Clem Cattini (Tornadoes) on drums, Tex Makins (Blue Flames) bass, Chas Hodges (Chas & Dave) on piano and Colin on Guitar. Legendary country guitarist Albert Lee is also being drafted in to add his unique solo styling. Colin is also playing live dates with Rosemary Squires in Birmingham, Harlow, London and a local gig at the Cornerstone , Didcot on Sat 26th November (14.00) Recently recorded the soundtrack for the HBO film "Special Relationship" with LA based French composer Alexandre Desplat at Abbey Road Studios. The film debuts on US television in May and is due on screen in Europe in September 2010 . Colin is also featured on Alexandre's soundtrack of Daniel Auteuil's film of Marcel Pagnol's story 'La Fille du Puisatier'.Further film work on Christian Henson's score for 'Laid Off' - this time playing ukelele. In February 2011 recorded an album with jazz guitarist Martin Taylor (also featruing violinist Christian Garrick and saxophonist Alan Barnes ) Featured guitarist on an album of music by the legendary German composer the late Bert Kaempfert produced by Bert's daughter Marion. Colin has had a long association with the Kaempfert orchestra since its reformation by Marion and trumpeter Tony Fisher after Bert's sad demise. Appeared at the Henley Festival with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra playing their highly popular Abba Spectacular show. and toured Germany with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing Berlin, Wiesbaden, Ingolstadt and Fleesehen in a programme of music collated from all the Bond films and conducted by Carl Davis. Toured with Gavin Sutherland's Orchestra in the sell out UK tour with Strictly Come Dancing stars Erin Boag and Anton de Beck where Colin's guitar was featured in a special arrangement of Jerome Kern's beautiful melody 'All the things you Are'. More recently worked with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra playing Charlie Chaplin's music for his film 'The Circus' conducted by Carl Davies. More work with Debbie Wiseman in some highly exposed acoustic guitar on her music for the BBC TV drama production 'After the Break' He was also featured soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at their 'Filmharmonic' concert at the Royal Albert Hall where he played 'Cavatina', Stanley Myers beautiful theme from the classic film 'The Deerhunter'. In Autumn 2008 he recorded Debbie Wiseman's music for Stephen Fry's series 'Fry in America' having previously been featured in Debbie's score for 'Jekyll'; he also recorded the music for the remake of Brideshead Revisited. Colin currently plays guitar on the Tesco television advertisements and Bouzouki on ads for Boots travel Colin's original compositions for films and television can currently be heard in over 24 counties worldwide. Other recent work includes several Royal Variety Performance si, ITV's "Stars In Their Eyes" (several series and live Finals) and on major Movies, "Big Fish", "Troy" and HBO's "The Life & Death of Peter Sellers" the Montreux prize-winning film. Colin was Musical Director for Dame Shirley Bassey for 8 years from June 1995. In that capacity he has conducted orchestras in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Norway, Belgium and the UK. His musical career began with Billy Fury and he has worked as Musical Director for Eddie Calvert, Georgie Fame and Alan Price. Producer of Ms Bassey's two recent albums, "The Diamond Collection" and "The Birthday Concert", the latter of which was nominated for a Grammy award! He has arranged and conducted film music for "Entertaining Mr Sloane" and "The Garnett Saga" with Georgie Fame and "O Lucky Man" with Alan Price, a film in which he also appeared. Top rated guitarist since 1959, he has recorded on albums and singles by such diverse artists as Elton John, Diana Ross, Paul Simon, Tom Jones, Kiri te Kawana, Gene Vincent, Jose Carreras, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Bjork! He has played on film scores for many composers including:- Quincy Jones, Henry Mancini, Paul McCartney, Andre Previn, Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, George Fenton, John Barry, Howard Shore, John Williams, Alexandre Desplat and James Horner.
